can you do a short respond to this person for me please javanna SheltonYesterdayJul 13 at 9:29pmManage Discussion Entry What the word feminist means to mean personally, is having equal rights to man and standing up to what we think is right even if it means we have to defend ourselves. I think would consider myself a feminist because I agree with equal rights for women and everything the woman spoke about on the video. What stood out to me the most was the fact that she brought up the topic of equal pay. I personally had an experience to where I had asked for equal pay at an old job and the manager who was in fact a guy, had laid me off all because I had ask to be paid the same as my former male coworkers.  I think that there is no such thing as a bad feminist because they are women who are all trying to bring awareness to what is going o throughout the everyday lives of women and I think that society or the media portrays it as feminists only want to just bash men or they think that every man is horrible and are no good. Which gets me thinking about how just because we want equality, that makes us a bad feminist automatically I do not understand what is so bad about that. I think that the complexities of this topic is having a label to who you re as a person just because a man would have a different perspective on who you should be, for example a straight man thinks that all women should act more feminine but not all women have the same personality and should not be put into one category just because of their gender. Or maybe we should talk about the fact that certain women are only expected to be a house wife who only cleans and takes care of the children in marriage. Also how she explained in the video that men are not expected to take off of work because of their children’s needs, instead, it should be the woman’s job to do so. The new ideas I would consider is that there should definitely be a law for woman to have control over what they want to do to their bodies, equal pay, and the right to speak their mind on certain topics without being labeled as a rebel to the society.
