This assignment requires that you construct a PowerPoint slide show of 3 black & white images with the required paperwork as described below:

For this assignment you will produce a PowerPoint presentation and paper illustrating various lighting concepts and structures as described in Chapters 2 & 3 of your textbook. All of your visuals must be black & white photos or stills (color photos/stills in which the chroma has been “cut” is not acceptable). The written work should be as a separate Word or PDF document.

I. How to Acquire the Photo/Still:

You have three options for acquiring these photos or stills:

1. Take your own B&W photos. If you choose to take your own photos, you must indicate both the location where they were taken and when.

2. Scan B&W photos from magazines or books. Identify the title of the Magazine or Book, publication date, author (if book) and the page number of where that photo appeared. You can scan your photos in the Feinberg Computer Lab.

3. Download B&W photos from the internet. Identify the source of the image with the URL & photographer if known. If it is a still from a film, identify the title of the film.

II. The PowerPoint Presentation:

Your PowerPoint will consist of 3 still black & white images. For this assignment you will be expected to include individual B&W photos for each of the following lighting concepts or

structures: – Attached Shadows – Slow Fall-Off

– Cameo Lighting
Note: Please be sure that each slide background in which you place your image is simple white.

III. Required Written Work:

For each photo you must explain how it demonstrates the lighting concept or structure as described in Chapters 2 & 3 of your textbook. In your paper explain:

• – Where you believe the light source(s) are in relation to the main visual element that is demonstrating the lighting concept/structure
• – What mood, idea or addition information the lighting creates (as opposed to a flat lighting design).In well written paragraphs (no sentence fragments, no grammatical problems, no spelling/usage problems, etc.) provide an explanation for how each photograph demonstrates the assigned concepts and/ or structures.
