How did various medieval Europeans interpret and react to the plague and how did they assess its long-term moral, social, and economic consequences? (Your discussion of the second question should be the more developed one, and should include at least three specific references from the documents.)

(2) Connect: How might a sudden catastrophe of similar scale in our own time produce both similar and different reactions and consequences? (Offer some speculative examples.)
