Strengths Based Leadership Discussion
I’m working on a communications discussion question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
Although we all have strengths, they often go unrecognized and unused.
Understanding strengths can make one a better leader. Research shows that people feel better and work
better when the climate in which they work is positive. Strengths-based leadership is a new area of
research that offers a unique approach to becoming a more effective leader. Not a panacea, strengths
concepts provide an innovative and valuable perspective to add to our leadership toolbox.
Discussion questions:
- Once you have completed your assigned reading, as well as the the Chapter questionnaire. Use the Observational Exercise and the Reflection and Action Worksheet identify and discuss what you have learned about your strengths.
- What would you like to change or enhance?
- What are your perceptions of the measures/methods of evaluation (Gallup, Positive Psychology/CAPP, VIA, etc.)? How are these measures useful to you?
- Identify a thought leader (from current events, an organization, or everyday life) or example who represents key strengths.
