Forensic Psychology Restorative Justice Program Discussion
We are discussing the restorative justice program. Forensic psychologists may assume the role of intervenor (mediator, counselor, facilitator, etc.) in the RJ program. For individuals who want to initiate new RJ programs, there may be a lot of naysayers among stakeholders and decision-makers.
If you were in the above?role as a forensic psychologist,?how would you respond to the following statement?
“RJ is just a bunch of politically correct, leftist hooey. When people commit crimes, they need to be punished. RJ does not hold people accountable for their crimes. We need to deter people from committing crimes, not coddle them.”
