final project using powerpoint
You and your company have been contracted to upgrade the existing network to include the following expansions.
A network proposal has to be developed for a manufacturing company. You are creating this proposal as if you are a contractor bidding on a project. You can create a made up company as your business.
The design is an L-shaped building approximately 1500 square feet. They have 1 reception and 5 offices. Each office employee has a personal printer. They are not using a network to communicate. This is key for you to upgrade their network and how they use their office equipment. Think of a network printer for an example. They will be saving money on ink on individual printers with just using one network printer.
Currently: President’s Office (4), Accounting (3), Business and HR (2)
Future Plans: HR (6), Accounting (5), and Breakroom (2). You are adding these new areas to what is current.
They are moving to a larger building 3500 square feet. They are expanding and will add 13 more offices. They will add network printers and wireless network for employees and guest. They will need to share files between departments. How will you create this scenario for them with your company? When you draw the plans, you can just say “ACCT” and show 5 computers with 1 network printer in there for them to use. You would do the same with HR, President’s Office AREA, Business, Break Room, etc.
Design a network for this company to incorporate a network server, printer and wireless network. Provide a security solution for them. What type of topology? What type of cabling will need to be used? You will need to determine cabling, hardware and software needs. Include a timeline and cost analysis for the executives. This is your proposal. You will need to list ALL of the equipment with price.
You can do this entire Final Project in a nice PowerPoint presentation. Make it pretty with the new diagrams, equipment, software, cabling, etc listed with prices and, of course, include your final total and timeframe that it will take for your company to get it all done. Don’t forget to cite your sources when it comes to your pictures and price of your equipment. You can just put a notation at the bottom of your slide or at the very end of your presentation.
