Childrens Environment Analysis

Using the applicable Grbich chapter as your guide, conduct a short conversation analysis. Begin by finding/creating a transcript of a naturally occurring conversation from an online source. Ideally, this will be an organic, unstructured conversation that is somehow related to your MA writing project topic. But it’s also okay to use an interview or even a scene from a documentary or fiction film. Use the notation system presented in the Grbich chapter to analyze a very brief excerpt from the conversation using CA techniques (by “brief” I mean 3-4 “turns” or “exchanges” between speakers). Once you have notated the transcript, step back and reflect in one paragraph on the theoretical/conceptual implications of what you have examined (i.e., what does it all mean, what’s the connection to bigger structural issues, etc.).
