Second essay
Section B (choose one question; at least 700 words)
2. Analyze, with attention to their respective narratives and social contexts, the themes of loss in Yoruba Man Walking and societal afflictions in An Incident at Pat’s Bar.
3. Discuss the significance of mental health discourses in A Bad Day for a Good Man in a Hard Job and charged emotional states in The Shivering as frameworks for social critiques.
4. Examine the interplay between history, imagination, nation and gender in Nineteen Thirty-Seven, underscoring their political implications and authorial prerogatives.
The third essay
Focus on under-researched areas, like Black writing in Latin America are, especially encouraged. Critical analysis of a work, for example, may explore such issues as race, gender, class, identity, form, style, culture, characterization or the interplay Of such elements in the narrative or meaning construction process. (at least 700 words).
