How does strategy analysis affect my small project?

Now it’s time to introduce a new requirement to your personal project.

  • Come up with a possible requirement that any stakeholder could request. Make sure that the requirements affects other requirements and already existing solutions.
  • Acting as the Change Control Board, assess the change, trace the requirement to learn the impact on the overall solution, and prioritize the requirement among all the requirements.
  • Since this is a new requirement, be sure to determine:
  • Cost
  • Risk
  • Penalty for not implementing
  • Benefit for implementing
  • Any dependencies to other requirements
  • Time sensitivity
  • Stability of the requirement
  • Any compliance that need to be met

As a Business Analyst, you always need to know the current state (AS-IS), future state (TO-BE), the gap between the two and the risk.

  • Watch the video – How to Develop As-is and To-Be Business Process
  • Read the article – Problem Solving for Business Analysts
  • Read the article – An Overview of Enterprise Analysis
  • Watch the movie “The Matrix” starring Kenau Reeves. As you are watching the movie, do a strategic analysis jotting down notes on the following:
  • AS-IS state
  • TO-BE state
  • Risks and what was done to alleviate those risks
  • What needed to be done to get from the AS-IS to the TO-BE state

  • Be prepared to talk about your observations/findings in regards to the movie in class.

  • Research the internet to find strategic analysis on major corporations, like Apple, Google, and Starbucks. As a Business Analyst of the corporation, determine what your roles and responsibilities would be for a strategic project.
  • Prepare a list of links on your corporation research to share in class with others to read.
  • Feel free to research other corporations, just be prepared to discuss your findings.
  • Be prepared to answer questions by your peers and faculty.

For you task, submit the deliverable for your personal project. Include the following:
