Which of the forms of crime do you believe to be most prevalent in your community? Why?

Overview

Many people in society are considered deviant: unusually and exemplifying exhibiting strange behavior with a twisted mind pursuing twisted activities. However, what we think of as deviant is also an ordinary part of everyday life. But, does this idea of deviance have anything to do with an individual’s social stratification? Social stratification is a term applied to the ranking or grading of individuals and groups and represents structured inequality in the allocation of rewards, privileges

 resources.

This module discusses the behaviors of people in society and how it relates to social stratification. In addition, the theories as to why people behave the way they do, crime and the criminal justice system, the patterns of social stratification, social mobility, the American class system, and the theories of social stratification also are discussed.
