REQUIREMENTS

Select a current issue in secondary education from the course textbook that is not a required reading. Use the following bold numbered and lettered outline topics as headings and subheadings in your paper:

I.Topic

Select a current trend in secondary education from the course textbook that is not a required reading. Choose a topic represented by one of the following chapters: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16. List topic and chapter selected.

II.Analysis of required readings

A.Position 1: Summary, strengths, weaknesses

B.Position 2: Summary, strengths, weaknesses

III.Original Research, Analysis, and Discussion

Summarize and analyze a minimum of 5 additional scholarly peer reviewed sources not discussed in the textbook on the selected topic from the last 10 years. Internet websites for the general public are not generally scholarly with the exception of government data and open access scholarly journals. Plan to use UALR Library online databases in the area of education. Contact instructor if you have questions regarding sources.

Include in text citations throughout your discussion as you discuss each source.

Reflect on your knowledge, opinion, and further questions on the topic after analyzing the text and your additional sources.

Professionalism includes but is not limited to the following:

•Original work

•Professional tone

•Standard formal grammar, spelling, and punctuation

•APA formatting: 12 pt. font, 1 inch margins, double spaced, title page (abstract not needed), page numbers, running head, headings as listed above, reference page

•Turned in by deadline

•1500 word minimum

•Rubric attached as last page of assignment.

•Assignment and rubric included in one electronic document.

Assignments turned in late will not receive full credit.
