When it comes to the definition of suburbia, there are multiple different definitions. The first one would be it means a residential district that is found on the outskirts of a city. The second one has to do with suburbanite’s, which are considered a cultural class or subculture. (Definitions for Suburbia, n.d.)

In the 1950s to 1960s, family life was centered on buying homes, appliances, automobiles, services and fun activities. During this Cold War and Soviet Union conflicts, Americans found a new way of life and loved to contrast the freedom and prosperity in the system of middle-class democracy and capitalism. A man named William Levitt bought 1,500 acres of potato fields where houses, playgrounds, pools, shopping centers, bowling alleys, and a town hall were built. Since suburbia was growing so quick, people could get mortgages with low-interest, low to no money down and tax subsidies. This allowed for a lot of houses to go up, but it also meant that there was less forests, and land for farming. As time went on, Suburbia was noticed by separating people by race because as white people moved to suburbs, African American and Hispanics were left in the inner city. People who were single, minorities or elderly were also not found it the suburbs. As middle-class people started to move out of inner cities, they started to deteriorate and crime rates went up drastically. (Moss, n.d.)

The issues of the baby boom time period are that it could hugely impact the population change and cause social and economic impacts. One economic impact of the baby boom is the concern that when baby boomers get older and retire, the dependency ratio will increase.

The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Woodstock all came at a very influential time in America. Dominant culture was taking over and try to calm the fears of parents, but adolescences like the baby boomers were ready to experience the world. The success of Bob Dylan as a musician during the 1960s is complex to assess. He was credited and redefining an entire genre of popular music. He introduced the electric guitar to folk music, became the first truly popular singer to a use non-conventional, raspy voice.

As The Beatles popularity grew, so did their taste for freedom. With their lyrics, they started having drugs and controversial lyrics and their fans has followed as well. Parents started to not like the lyrics and disapproved. With Bob Dylan, parents never liked him. He was free spirited and had no problem expressing his views about America.

With the baby boomers, hippie had influence and spread rapidly. This allow the young adults to escape from polictics and everyday expectations of America. The idea that is behind Woodstock counter drugs, peace, and love is oppsing viewpoint of everyday norm. It was everything that parents had fought so hard to keep it away from their childrens. It is something dangerous that could get the childrens in deep trouble.
