There are many regulations that

health
care providers must comply with, and often these regulations impact healthcare organizations and providers in different ways. Compliance with these regulations requires a change in how business is done or perhaps changing policies and procedures within the organization. One issue that is very serious in the healthcare field is fraud and abuse. Many regulatory agencies have plans and guidelines to help health care professionals avoid fraud and abuse, but at the center of the regulatory environment is the need for employees to understand what constitutes fraud and abuse, and how to best avoid it.

Instructions

This assignment has two parts – Part I will be completed during Unit 4 and Part II will be completed during Unit 5.

Part I:

  • You have hired ten new employees and they need to complete training on fraud and abuse. Create a fraud and abuse training seminar for new healthcare employees.
  • This seminar should have an agenda, a training presentation with script, a handout with specific guidelines and information, and then a completion form the new employees will sign to have stored in their

    employment
    record.
  • Your presentation should be completed in PowerPoint and the rest of the documents (agenda, script for presentation, handout, and completion form) should all be separate pages of the same electronic document.
  • Submit your PowerPoint presentation and supporting documents.

Part II (Unit 5):

In the discussion board:

  • Upload your PowerPoint presentation and supporting documents from Unit 4 as an attachment.
  • Choose one classmate and review their presentation and supporting documents as if you were one of the new employees and then respond to the following questions:
    • Was the presentation professionally presented with information on fraud and abuse?
    • Did the presentation contain the speaker’s notes to tell you what the slide covered?
    • If you were a new employee, would you feel that this presentation prepared you for working in the health carefield?
    • What areas would you like to have seen covered more in depth?
    • What areas were missing?
    • What is your overall reflection of this presentation?
